Thank you to all who made the 26th Annual Folk Art Fair a success on November 18th, 2012. 62 diverse vendors, hundreds of shoppers, and some very grateful Youth in Government students benefited from the event. Thanks to the eager shoppers and sellers, the "YIG Kids" will be able to attend a four day legislative session at the state capitol in the spring.
Next year's fair will be on Sunday, November 23rd 2013. Look for details in the coming months.
The art fair is a great opportunity to do some local Christmas shopping and enjoy a fabulous spread of baked goods, soups, and sandwiches, while supporting the Door County YMCA Youth in Government Program. A silent auction will also be taking place all day. Admission is $3.00 for attendee’s ages 16 and older.
Founded in 1947, the YMCA Youth in Government is a nationwide program that provides students in grades 7th-12th an opportunity to experience the democratic process firsthand. Proceeds from the Folk Art Fair make it possible for Youth in Government students to attend a four-day legislative session in Madison each spring.
