PIKE - Ages 3 to 5 years (Northern Door)
In Pike, the most elementary aquatic skills will be taught, which children learn to build on as they progress through the Pre-school and Youth Aquatics Programs. At this level, children start developing good attitudes and safe practices around water.
EEL - Ages 3 to 5 years (Sturgeon Bay & Northern Door)
The objectives of Eel are to build on the basic aquatics skills learned in Rainbow and to give children further success with fundamental aquatic skills performed to a slightly more advanced degree than Pike. Most skills in this level are performed with assistance. This level makes the beginning on independent aquatic locomotion skills. Children continue to explore using simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to gain more proficiency for future strokes. Eel also adds to the self-help and basic rescue skills introduced in Pike.
RAY/STARFISH COMBO - Ages 3 to 5 years (Northern Door)
Rotary breathing will be taught while kicking, along with the front and back float without bubble, back float and glide with kick, jump from the wall in 5 ft depth, introduce kneeling dive, front crawl and back stroke. 10 bobs must be completed by session end.
STARFISH - Ages 3 to 5 years (Sturgeon Bay)
The objective of Starfish is to build on the skills learned in Rainbow and Eel by providing additional guided practice of basic aquatic skills at slightly more proficient performance levels and greater distances and times. Skills in this level are performed independently. The children are taught to improve coordination of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions. As in all levels, the children learn additional safety skills and improve comprehension of previous knowledge.
