YOUTH SPORTS
AFTERSCHOOL SPORTS - Grade 1 to Grade 5 (Sturgeon Bay)
Engage in skill building and game play each week with various sports. Sports include basketball, baseball, football, floor hockey, dodgeball, kickball, and volleyball. Check with your school about busing opportunities to the YMCA. Weather permitting, some After School Sports programs will be held outdoors.
YOUTH BASEBALL - Ages 4 to 8 (Sturgeon Bay)
The YMCA Youth Baseball Program is held for both boys and girls each summer. Players will spend time practicing basic skills such as throwing, hitting, fielding, and base running and then put them to use in game play. By week 2 all players will be assigned a coach and a team. As always, positive attitudes, good sportsmanship, and YMCA core values are emphasized. Players hould bring a glove, hat, and shoes suitable to wear outside on a dirt infield (old tennis shoes, soccer shoes, or rubber cleats will all do the trick). All sessions are held at Jaycee Field on Michigan Street. Parents of 6 year-olds may choose T-ball or Coach Pitch depending on ability an how young or old player is for his/her age. All players receive a team t-shirt and an award.
VOLUNTEER COACHES are needed. If you would like to coach your son or daughter's team, or serve as an assistant, please contact Ben Rikkola at 743-4949. Held at Jaycee Field (Michigan Street).
SATURDAY YOUTH SOCCER - Ages 4 thru Grade 5 (Sturgeon Bay)
Youth soccer is a values based developmental program for boys and girls age 4 through grade 5. The program emphasis is on learning the fundamentals, the rules of the game, and how to work together as a team. Each session is developmentally appropriate for the age of the players and includes skill practice and games each week. All players will be assigned a team and a coach. Volunteer coaches are needed. Sessions meet in the large gym of the Sturgen Bay Program Center.
SATURDAY YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL - Ages 4 to Grade 5 (Sturgeon Bay & Fish Creek)
A semi-competitive program held in Fall for boys and girls ages 4 through grade 5 that emphasizes learning the basics of football through a combination of games and skill practice. Kids will have fun while learning how to run, block, pass, receive, and play defense. All participants play every game and each player will have the opportunity to sample various positions. Everyone receives an award and a team t-shirt. Sessions meet on the Door County Soccer fields by the fair grounds.
