VIRTUAL SENIOR HEALTH & WELLNESS DAY

 

The Door County YMCA Senior Health & Wellness Day virtual experience kicks off on Wednesday, May 5! Enjoy workshops led by educated speakers from both the Y and Door County Medical Center. Explore and register for sessions of interest to you beginning April 19.

Kick-off your virtual experience with gaining a grounding of what we hope for you to gain from this experience. Learn more about social isolation and community resources available to you.

Memory & Mindfulness with Christy Wisniewski from Door County Medical Center & Christine Webb-Miller (Door County YMCA)

Learn more about how you may benefit from our Memory in Development, M.I.N.D, program. M.I.N.D is a research-driven workshop which engages participants and care partners throughout education, exercise, and encouragement in a socially enriching atmosphere. This program is in partnership with Door County Medical Center.

Joint Replacement with Christine Webb-Miller

Is a joint replacement in your future? Have you already had a knee or hip replaced and you want to sustain the gains that you have already made? Our Knee/Hip Joint Class is a collaborative program with Door County Medical Center and is designed to help you get yourself to where you want to be. Between the periodic visits from therapists and working with certified YMCA trainers, we will help you realize success with your flexibility and build your strength and endurance. This class is available both on land and in water.

Diabetes Prevention Program with Tonya Felhofer & Tess Johnson

Can you measure a healthy life? Sure, you can— by the cup, the ounce and the block. If you’re at risk for type 2 diabetes, you can make small, measurable changes that can reduce your risk and help you live a happier, healthier life. The Diabetes Prevention Program, otherwise known as DPP, has been developed as a comprehensive lifestyle change program in concert with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to reduce the risk of - or prevent - the development of Type II Diabetes.

LiveSTRONG® with Christine Webb-Miller & Megan Schneider

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a small group exercise and movement program for adult cancer survivors. This 12-week program empowers the participants to improve their health and quality of life while diminishing the adverse affects of cancer or various cancer treatments. Fall Prevention with Sarah Gavin & Christine Webb-Miller

Get an inside look into our Moving For Better Balance Program and learn how it may help you to improve balance, muscle strength, flexibility and mobility to enhance overall physical health. Moving for Better Balance is a 12-week evidence-based group exercise program based on the principles of Tai Chi and teaches eight movements modified especially for fall prevention.
