Door County YMCA Striver Gymnasts Secure Gold at Snowflake Invitational
DOOR COUNTY, WI – The Door County YMCA Striver Gymnastics Team delivered outstanding performances at the Snowflake Invitational, hosted by the Sheboygan County YMCA on February 7–8. Competing against approximately 700 gymnasts from ten YMCA programs across Wisconsin, the Striver team earned both Gold and Silver Team Championships.
The Striver Excel Silver Team captured the Gold Team title with an impressive score of 149.10. In the nine-and-under division, Maddox Cleveland earned gold on vault, silver in the all-around with a score of 36.45, silver on beam, and bronze medals on floor and bars. Brielynn Lapolla claimed gold on bars and placed fourth on both floor and in the all-around, finishing with a score of 36.025.
In the 10–11 age group, Charlotte Hubbing led the team with a gold medal in the all-around, scoring 37.55. She also earned gold on floor, bronze on vault, placed fourth on bars, and sixth on beam. Maisie Keinhofer followed closely, securing silver in the all-around with a score of 36.90, bronze medals on beam and floor, and sixth place on vault. Lyra Scrimgeour added to the medal count with gold on bars and beam, bronze in the all-around with a score of 36.60, along with seventh place on vault and ninth on beam.
The Excel Gold Team earned the Silver Team Championship with a score of 142.30, led by Jessa Varney and Evelynn Kelsey. Varney, competing in the 12-and-under division, won gold on floor, beam, and in the all-around with a score of 36.35. Kelsey, in the 13-and-older division, captured gold on floor and in the all-around with a score of 35.40, earned silver on beam, and placed seventh on bars and eighth on vault.
In Level 8 competition, Amira Anschutz earned silver on vault and placed fifth on floor, while Estelle Duerst secured silver on bars.
The Striver Gymnastics Team will next compete at the M&M Gliders 8-Team Invitational in Marinette–Menominee on February 17, followed by the Kettle Moraine Fire and Ice Invitational in West Bend, Wisconsin, from March 6–8. That meet will feature more than 800 gymnasts from across the state and serve as preparation for the State Tournament, scheduled for March 28–29 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
