Day of Giving
Be a hero! Support the Y's mission in the community on our first annual Day of Giving!
The YMCA's Day of Giving is a one-day event to support the incredible programs that help strengthen our community. The support our community receives at the Y is instrumental in helping all realize their full potential to be active, engaged, and thriving members of our community. From the youngest of our children to the oldest of our seniors, the Y is a home for everyone.
Donation's made during the 2020 Day of Giving will support programs including:
Active Older Adult Programming - we believe in Wrap-Around-Wellness - the idea that wellness is more than just physical fitness. This is why we offer specialized senior programming - not only to keep the body healthy but also the mind and spirit. A donation of $50 provides seniors with social and community-oriented programs focused on fighting isolation and increasing engagement.
Summer Foods Program - a donation of $125 guarantees 50 nutritious lunches will be served to our community's youth this summer. At sites around Door and Kewaunee Counties, we serve over 500 free lunches per day. Whether Y members or not, youth can come to any site to learn about eating healthy and staying active while enjoying a nutritious meal.
Specialty Programming - a gift of $250 ensures a variety of specialty health programs that addresses ever-evolving needs. From LiveSTRONG, a program for cancer survivors and their caregivers, to Parkinson's Exercise and the Center's for Disease Control-certified Diabetes Prevention Program, we provide relevant and unique programs.
Barker Child Development Center's Garden - we believe in teaching children to be healthy through hands-on learning and play. A gift of $500 gives one of our day care classrooms has access to a quality outdoor vegetable garden for the entire season. The children plant, care for and harvest healthy foods which they later eat as a delicious and nutritious snack.
