With the Southern Door Schools' 21CLCC (21st Century Learning Community) program, the Y philosophy is to develop the whole child in Spirit, Mind and Body.
SPIRIT: Character Development, focusing on the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, is woven into all activities. Opportunities for service learning and building community awareness.
MIND: A variety of learning centers focusing on: creative arts, hands-on science, composition, reading, listening skills, and dramatic play. Homework time is scheduled daily, and one on-one mentoring is available.
BODY: Opportunities to enjoy healthy foods while learning about and practicing healthy lifestyle choices. Time for recreational play or organized cooperative gaming (15 minutes each hour).
